Winter blooms in Valley Village. The day’s rain has washed all the Valley dust off, and refreshed the flowers. They look bright, even glowing, in the soft, diffused light.
The pinkish-white blossoms of the jade tree appear every year just before Christmas. At the same time, of course, the citrus trees are heavy with oranges and lemons.
The other-wordly beauty of the bird-of-paradise, combined with the lazy ease with which they thrive in the Los Angeles climate, has made them the official City Flower of Los Angeles.
