Human understanding is fading, and society’s unbalanced, wasteful, unsustainable energy regime (i.e., catastrophic pollution) is one of the chief causes. That is, our stupidity is making us more stupid.

Plants in general, and here trees, are too often treated by Modernity as “decorations”, which can be moved around the space at the architect’s whim, like so many knick-knacks. This is an artificial substitute that can not compensate for what it replaces: the magical green spaces that evolve over centuries as a neighborhood and its arborial companions jointly develop.
Still, one can only imagine that the citizens who are forced to live in the concrete jungle deeply appreciate whatever greenery they can find.
